Back in 1980, Warren Ubels joined a multinational pump Co as a screw pump application engineer. Subsequent job changes gave him experience and overseas training in Petrochemical and Pulp & Paper applications.

In 1992, Warren & Ruth founded their first pump company -APT (Applied Pumping Technologies) marketing gear and marine pumps, and developing solids handling pumps as a sideline.

Varisco made an approach in 2002 resulting in then distributing their self priming pumps, and the company name was changed to Prime Pump Ltd in 2003 to better reflect the business emphasis. In Oct 2007 they sold off the business to take a 2 year break in India.

After returning in 2010 Technipump was formed initially as a pump sales and consulting company. The failure of a pump on an effluent application, led to the design, development and patent by Warren, of a highly successful multistage effluent pump that could pass solids and fibres in suspension. The business then progressed into PTO and engine driven irrigation pumps, and bespoke pumps for specific applications.
